Recently, I discovered Twitter and how fun it can be. But, it also adds value in that people can be edified and encouraged by words, and experiences shared from fellow believers and also pastors and teachers like John Piper. Over the weekend, Piper tweeted about a couple who had a baby born with Trisomy 13. Their story plus here and here.

Thank you, Jesus for speaking to people's hearts through the lives of this couple. Simply amazing...

Global Warming Farce

Let me set the record straight. I believe in conservation of God's gift of the earth to us. I also think we should not litter, should work for clean air and should be good stewards of what God has given.

BUT, I do not believe in global warming or that man is killing the earth or ozone with car emissions or running air conditioning too much. What I do believe is that if in fact those who do believe in this farce REALLY believed it is going to kill mankind prematurely they would not allow people or corporations to "pay" for credits that would allow them to continue doing the very thing to the environment they say is going to continue to destroy the earth. It's simply another way to tax all of us.

Fact is that the earth has not been warming up as Al Gore likes to scare everybody into thinking. What this plan means is that liberal Democrats are overplaying their "mandate" for "change." It is a power grab by the left and we should all be wary of politicians from either side trying to have too much control or governance over our lives.

America is still great and can still lead the world as the greatest, most prosperous democratic republic that ever existed. But only if her citizens begin to realize that in order to do that, we must stand up and demand better, more resourceful, more creative and more responsible plans for the economy, the environment and most importantly the self-defense of our country and our national interests.

When are people going to wake up and realize what these INSANE liberals are doing to our country?!

I can only hope that enough blue dog Democrats and common sense politicians will put the brakes on these destructive bills and proposed policies on "climate change" (which is a farce to begin with) and health-care reform (which isn't needed).

PLEASE pray for country and that before it is too late, we will wake up to the perils of letting the government control every aspect of our lives and taxing us to into oblivion.

So, I caught this story over the last few days and it really made me sick. How in the WORLD can someone be KILLED and the murderer only get 24 days in jail?! By being an NFL player...

If anyone else had done this, they would have gotten a just sentence. What I can't fathom is how the family just accepted it and the money he threw at them so he could "move on" with his life. I understand he stayed and accepted responsibility for his actions - but part of accepting the responsibility is facing the consequences. He did not have to deal with the true consequences and thus, will probably not ever realize how serious his actions were.

Sad story.

Anita and I have watched a lot of Jack's Big Music Show (or "Bear" as Hallie calls it) lately. Our very favorite episode is the one that includes this video. I die laughing every single time! And actually in trying to find the video, I discovered that this is Jerry Lawson and the Persuasions. A famous a capella group that have been performing for several decades. Apparently other famous guest musicians have included Buddy Guy and Anne Harris. Watch this video and tell me it doesn't make you smile...

Hope We Recover (from the "Stimulus")

President Obama and the Dems still have not convinced me or most Americans of their terribly misguided "stimulus" plan. I have read quite a bit from both sides of the argument and wanted to share some good articles I found this morning.

Everyone agrees something needs to be done. But where most of the country agrees is that the government needs to have a limited role in doing whatever is eventually done. We can't take this back once it's done and I have a feeling recovery has already started to surface. If so, let's slow this down, stop using fear (funny how Bush was attacked for this same tactic in regards to our lives actually being threatened by terrorists but when the Dems and President Obama want to push through a pork-laden "stimulus" plan it's okay to scare the pants off the country) and have a serious debate about what's best for the economy and the nation.

Whether you agree with the President or not, we owe it to our children and grandchildren not to jump in too deep with this "rescue" plan and give it the proper amount of debate and truly work together. Three spineless GOP senators voting for it does not make this a bill that both sides can agree on.

Exercising Some Demons

Forgive the play on words. Ever since I can remember, I have thought of myself as a fat person. Still do.

But, hopefully I am in the middle of changing that mindset. I need to exercise and exorcise some demons. About a week ago I decided that I am going to run in a 5K race. Now, please don't misunderstand my intentions here. I am doing this for a couple of reasons. One, the entry fee goes to the Jesus Video Project. Two, so that I can say I finished. I've never run a 5K race. In fact, being a fat person I never even finished the mile run in the Presidential fitness test in elementary school! Hopefully, after I finish this race I can enjoy the fun run with AK and the girls!

So, please say a prayer for me as I train this week and next. That I am wise in how far to push my body and that I remain focused on the task at hand. Who knows? If I enjoy this, I may work toward a half-marathon down the road and then maybe even the big one! All of this, of course, is part of losing the remaining weight I need to lose and keeping it off for good.

Now, I gotta go so I can get back to training!

P.S. Please send any extra inhalers to the house! I'm sure I'll need them!

Jesse Brooks Foundation

Several years ago, one of my cousins died in an tragic accident on her way home from a mission trip. Her parents, Tammy and Chris Brooks, have now started a foundation in her memory to help continue her desire to spread the Gospel around the world. There will be a permanent link on here for anyone interested in visiting and/or donating time or money to the cause.

Jesse was a special girl and this foundation is an amazing way to turn a tragic event into a life-changing, positive call to live life to the fullest through living for Christ and sharing the Gospel in every corner of the world.

Ahhh, it's hate State week! I love it! One of the best weeks of the year is when we get to remind MissStake that they are and always will be inferior to THE University of Mississippi. Oh sure they may beat us every now and then. But their rightful place in the football food chain in the state and the conference is at the bottom.
